Terms of Service
Last updated: June 8, 2026
Acceptance
By accessing or using the Canadian Offset Registry (“COR”, “the site”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. COR is operated by AJM Environmental Inc.(“we”, “us”).
What COR is
COR is a free, public, map-based directory of habitat offset and habitat banking projects in Canada. It is an information service connecting parties. It is not a regulator, a credit-issuing body, a broker, an escrow service, or a transaction platform. A listing on COR is not a certification of ecological value, of regulatory approval, of credit availability, or of any legal status.
Whether a particular project satisfies a specific legal or regulatory requirement is always determined by the relevant authority (e.g., Fisheries and Oceans Canada, provincial agencies, municipalities).
Using the site
You may browse the registry, create an account, list projects, and contact other parties through COR. In doing so you agree to:
- Provide accurate information and keep your contact details current.
- Only list projects you have authority to represent.
- Respect the privacy of other users. Don't scrape, harvest, or share contact details you obtain via the contact-request system for any purpose other than the inquiry it was approved for.
- Not use the site to send spam, harass others, post unlawful content, infringe intellectual property, misrepresent your identity, or interfere with the operation of the site.
- Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site, including the admin area.
We may suspend or remove accounts, listings, or messages that violate these terms, without notice.
Listings
When you submit a listing, you grant COR a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display the listing (including any photos, documents, and project description) on the site, in search results, and in related promotional or informational materials, in perpetuity or until you ask us to remove it.
You confirm that you own or have the right to share any content you submit, including photos and documents. You retain ownership of your content.
All listings go through admin review before publication. Edits to an approved listing send it back to review and temporarily hide it from public view until re-approved.
Third-party data and attribution
Some listings are aggregated from public datasets, with attribution and links back to the source. These include data from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC). We present this data in good faith for informational reference and link back to the original source. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing these organizations.
Disclaimers
The site and the information on it are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that:
- The site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
- Listings are accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any specific purpose.
- Contact information is current or that listed parties will respond.
- Listed projects will satisfy any specific regulatory, ecological, or commercial requirement.
You are solely responsible for any decisions you make based on information found on the site. Always verify project details with the project holder and confirm regulatory acceptability with the relevant authority.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AJM Environmental Inc. and its officers, employees, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the site. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of your use of the site is limited to CAD $100.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AJM Environmental Inc. from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the site, your content, or your violation of these terms.
Termination
You may stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the site at our discretion, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these terms or extended inactivity.
Changes
We may update these terms as the registry evolves. The “Last updated” date will change when we do, and material changes will be made visibly clear on the site. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta.
